Spring 2017 Phase I Workshop

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

The NSF SBIR/STTR Phase I Grantee Workshop is an opportunity for NSF’s SBIR and STTR Phase I Grantees to gain entrepreneurial training experience. New SBIR and STTR Phase I awardee companies are required to attend the 2017 NSF SBIR/STTR Phase I Grantee Spring Workshop at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City Hotel in Arlington, Virginia.

 OVERVIEW INFORMATION

The first day of the SBIR/STTR Phase I Grantee Workshop is dedicated to “Beat-the-Odds Boot Camp”.  The Boot Camp will be held from 8:30 am – 5:00 pm on Monday, March 13 at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City at Reagan National Airport. Please review the Boot Camp Tab on this website for requirements and details.

All new awardee companies are required to attend the Phase I Workshop beginning at 8:30 am on Tuesday, March 14 through Wednesday, March 15. NSF Program Directors will meet one-on-one with awardee companies on Wednesday. Each company will also have the opportunity to schedule a one-on-one meeting with their assigned Commercialization Planning Assistance Contractor (Dawnbreaker or Larta) on Wednesday, March 15.

ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS

Please review all tabs on the top menu bar carefully for details on grantee participation requirements and the Beat-the-Odds Boot Camp (optional, but highly recommended). We hope that you are able to join us for the Boot Camp, but if you cannot participate, please talk to your Program Director. Forward a copy of the email from him/her excusing you from the Boot Camp to sbir@edjassociates.com and do not select the Boot Camp option during online registration.

We hope that the Principle Investigator (P.I.) will attend the conference, but if the P.I. is unable to attend, please contact the appropriate NSF Program Director to discuss who will represent the company.  That individual should be qualified to discuss the ongoing Phase I project and Phase II proposal plans during the required one-on-one meeting. Many companies also send a business development specialist who will engage in writing the Phase II proposal, particularly the Commercialization Plan.  Please contact sbir@edjassociates.com to request workshop and/or Boot Camp invitations be sent to additional team members.
