Innovation Pitch Competition.

This year’s conference will host the first Innovation Pitch Student Competition!  Submit your idea for a product, business or service and let the ‘experts’ judge!  Prizes will be awarded so you don’t want to miss this fun event! Innovation Pitch does not require an official business plan – this is a ‘PITCH’ event!

Important Requirement: Pitch Training Session – Wednesday, July 26th, 2017

Expert help!  Neil Sheridan of SVPI will deliver training to help participants produce a content-rich and interesting pitch to help foster further discussions about their ideas!  Participants will receive coaching to help gain the skill, confidence and knowledge to communicate the importance of their innovation.  This training session is open to all conference attendees, but the competition on Thursday is only open to students.

Interested? Here’s how it works:

Step 1. Apply to compete: Review the contest rules and complete the online application to the competition by July 14, 2017.

Step 2. Contestant selection: Students selected to compete will be notified prior to the conference.

Step 3. Pre-Conference Training: Wednesday, July 26, 2017 – Plan to arrive early!  Competitors must arrive at the hotel by 2:00 pm in order to participate in a required pitch training session.  The exact format of the pitches will be covered in the training on Wednesday afternoon.

  • All are welcome to attend the training (including non-contestants, directors and other faculty). Pitch Training is mandatory for contestants.

Step 4. Semi-Finals: Thursday, July 27, 2017 – Morning Session. Selected entries adhering to the Innovation Pitch rules will advance to the semi-finals.  Competitors will put their training into practice and give a 3-minute live ‘pitch’ of their idea followed by three minutes of questions from the judges.  The top four will advance to the Finals.  Winners of the semi-finals will be announced during lunch.

Step 5. Finals: Thursday, July 27, 2017 – Afternoon Session. Finalists will present a 3-minute pitch to the entire conference audience in a plenary session, followed by a 3-minute session with judges for questions or clarification.

Step 6. Awards: Thursday, July 27, 2017 – Evening Reception. Winners will be announced!
